The Garden Team currently provides 12 work experience placements each week on a professional garden maintenance service that works within the local community. We service up to 39 gardens spanning Ely to Cambridge, both business and residential. Co-workers participate in all aspects of the business from organising the days work, to gardening to invoicing. Our teams’ are experienced in a wide range of gardening skills including pruning, hedge-cutting, grass cutting, garden clearance, border maintenance, weeding, and planting. We come with our own tools and machinery such as a ride-on mower, petrol mowers, strimmers, hedge-cutter, and leaf blower and remove all green waste in compliance with Environment Agency standards. We are tidy and trustworthy and have a long waiting list for contract work and one-off winter clearance work.
Each co-worker completes an Individual Learning Plan that include goals in practical horticulture and social skills - our aim is to help them achieve these. Using their experiences on the Garden Team many continue on to work with Jill Frost, our Employment Co-ordinator, to gain voluntary positions in the local community.
